Small enough to care, big enough to deliver

Our Commitment to the Environment

As a responsible corporate citizen Cope is committed to minimising our environmental impact.

Much more than a traditional transport company Cope Sensitive Freight is a solution provider, a trusted advisor if you will, to our customers.  Our customer base is heavily aligned with high profile and specialised industries including information technology, defence, scientific, medical, and telecommunications. Our customers typically have a high public profile and place a great deal of importance on ensuring their suppliers reflect their values. As a key partner Cope works tirelessly to ensure an elevated level of presentation, conduct and reliability, we recognise that our conduct as a corporate citizen reflects not only on us but on our customers. Increasingly environmental performance is a key issue for our customers and we are working hard to manage our environmental impact and minimise our carbon footprint.

Cope is working on a wide range of environmental management initiatives including:-

Waste Disposal

As part of our service Cope manages a significant amount of packaging and unpacking for our customers’ products. We have established recycling arrangements that see all our cardboard, metal, plastic, timber and foam waste products recycled. Unwanted documents are shredded and included in our recyclable waste. The only waste going to landfill is generally domestic decomposable waste.

General Depot Environments

We undertake no fuelling or general maintenance/servicing on site thereby minimising the chance of contaminants inadvertently being released into the environment. Hardstand areas are kept clean and clear with regular industrial sweeping reducing the chance of pollutants entering the stormwater system.

As part of our commitment to providing the best possible sensitive freight service Cope maintains an industry leading fleet replacement and presentation program. The vast majority of our fleet is sourced from one of two major suppliers and compliance with the current or pending Euro emissions rating is a key part of our selection criteria. All vehicles are equipped with Air Ride suspension providing the duel benefit of looking after our sensitive freight and also reducing wear and tear on our roads.

Our vehicles, plant and equipment are serviced by the company that supplied the equipment or their authorised agent, depending on location. All vehicles and equipment are serviced in line with the manufactures specifications and by using the dealer to service our equipment we also know that their own policies and procedures cater for appropriate environmental controls.

We have a national arrangement with Bridgestone for all our tyres. As part of that arrangement they perform weekly fleet checks to ensure that tyre condition and pressures etc. are all in good order. This is again driven by our need to ensure that our vehicles are safe and reliable. Regular pressure checks minimise fuel consumption and tyre wear, delivering an environmental benefit as well as a positive commercial outcome. At the end of their life span correct tyre disposal is part of our arrangement with Bridgestone.
